Prompt tiers
Each accepted answer in the client maps to one tier. The score and the blurb are the client’s, not this guide’s.
A miss uses the black square emoji ⬛. The client exports that glyph as MISS_EMOJI.
| Tier | Score | Emoji | Client blurb |
|---|---|---|---|
| Plankton | 10 | 🫧 | The answer everyone blurts out. |
| Too Clever | 15 | 🤡 | A famously “obscure” pick. Everyone reaches for it. |
| Schooler | 30 | 🐟 | Solid — swims with the school. |
| Rare | 60 | 🦑 | Genuinely uncommon. Nice pull. |
| Deep Cut | 85 | 🏮 | True obscurity. Few go this deep. |
| One in a Krillion | 100 | 🌟 | The designated gem. Trench floor. |
What’s a good score?
The client does not publish a separate number called a “good score.” These are the daily total bands it does publish.
The two deepest daily bands start at 351 (Deep cut) and 450 (One in a krillion). Seven perfect 100-point answers would be 700, which the client calls the maximum day score.
The rendered homepage says every point sinks you 10 metres and that 700 is the trench.
| Total | Band | Client verdict |
|---|---|---|
| 0–150 | Plankton | Plankton. Plenty of ocean left down there. |
| 151–250 | Schooler | Schooler. Swimming with the school. |
| 251–350 | Rare | Rare. Below the thermocline. Nice. |
| 351–449 | Deep cut | Deep cut. Seriously deep dive. |
| 450+ | One in a krillion | One in a krillion. Trench dweller. Absurd. |
Too Clever and the gem
The FAQ defines “too clever” as the go-to “obscure” pick that is not actually that obscure.
The FAQ says the Krillion gem is not chosen on rarity alone. Past a certain depth, the gem is also picked for fun: the answer that is most satisfying to land on.
Too Clever scores 15, which is below Schooler (30). A pick that feels obscure can still be one of the shallow scores.
